Automotive Chips and Operating Systems: Core Technologies of the Second Half of the "Automotive Revolution"

Time: 2023.04.17

Recently, Chen Qingquan, an academician of the CAE Member, said at the China Electric Vehicle Hundred Talents Forum (2023) that the core technology of the second half of the "automotive revolution" is automotive chips and operating systems.

Chen Qingquan believes that the first half of the automotive revolution was electrification, with its main core technologies being lightweight vehicle bodies, high-performance powertrain integration, and high-performance safety battery packs. For many consecutive years, China has become the world's top producer and seller of electric vehicles, accumulating many experiences from policies to technology and market.

The software and hardware systems involved in future automobiles are not covered by a single industry and should be integrated across borders. Chen Qingquan believes that the second half of the automotive revolution will be intelligent, networked, and shared, with the main core technologies being automotive chips and operating systems.

For future development, Zhao Shitang, a member of the Party Committee and Deputy Director of the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, stated that he will continue to deepen the reform of state-owned assets and enterprises, and form an independent guarantee capability for key automotive chips as soon as possible.

For example, to leverage the leading enterprises in the industrial chain and focus on strengthening the construction of new energy vehicle vehicle platforms and production lines; Strengthen the research and industrialization of forward-looking common key technologies, and better leverage the role of central enterprise new energy vehicle common technology research and development platforms.

Xin Guobin, a member of the Party Group and Vice Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, also pointed out that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will work with relevant departments to accelerate the high-quality development of the new energy vehicle industry.

Including supporting intelligent technology breakthroughs such as automotive operating systems and high-precision sensors; Guide upstream and downstream enterprises to establish long-term cooperative relationships, ensure stable resource supply, promote the construction of charging and swapping infrastructure, update the standard system of intelligent connected vehicles for new energy vehicles, release guidelines for the construction of automotive chip standard systems, and accelerate the development of standards for the integration of new energy vehicles and related fields.
